Rome Class - Mrs Laguda

Welcome to Rome's Class page. (Reception)
Our class motto: Brave explorers, Great thinkers.

Class notices
Sports Day has been rescheduled for Friday July 15th.  Fingers crossed the weather will be better.  If you are unsure of what house your child is in please look on our class door as this will advise you.

Our PE days are Wednesday and Friday.  Please ensure all earring have been removed.  This half term we will be taking part in gymnastic/dance and team games

Bug Club
Please ensure your child reads on Bug Club at least once a week to support your child's reading.  Remember to click on the Bug to complete the comprehension questions.  We have noticed that some children are not doing this.  There are still 10 children yet to go on Bug Club.  Your child's login details are in the Yellow Reading Record Diary so no excuses!

Reading Challenge
This week we had 16 children in the reading raffle.  Well done to everyone for your tremendous effort especially to our winner Jack.   Who will win the next reading raffle?
Please ensure all reading books and reading record diaries are brought into school everyday.  Please help your child with their reading by reading with them daily.  Anyone who reads 5 times a week is entered into the class reading raffle and may win a prize.  If your child has read please place the book inside the reading record diary and put it in the blue folder outside our classroom.  Remember to always sign the reading record diary so we know your child has read. An adult will read with your child once a week in class. Many thanks.
Many thanks to everyone who is reading regularly with your child. We are very pleased to see we are changing lots of books each day.

Labels on clothes
Please ensure all items of clothing are labelled with your child's name on them.  We have already noticed that some items do not have names on them.
Thanks
Water bottles
Children are only allowed water in their drinks bottles.  Please make sure your child brings in a named water bottle daily.  Remember to bring in the one we gave you for Christmas. We no longer have cups in the classroom but can access their water bottles at any time.
(juice is allowed at lunch time as part of their packed lunch)

Library Books
Each week children will choose a new library book to share with you.
We will be changing library books on a Thursday so please make sure they are sent to school on this day.
Thank you.

Home Learning Books

Thank you to everyone who supported their child to continue to complete learning activities during the holidays.  Homework has again been sent out and we hope the children enjoy completing the learning activities.

Home learning is sent home to help support learning already taken place in the class.    Home learning is sent home every Friday with your child and should be returned by Wednesday at the latest.

Tropical Wings
Despite the awful weather we had an amazing day at Tropical Wings.  The children behaved so well and enjoyed looking at the different animals.  It was lovely to hear a member of the public tell us how well behaved our children were.  Well done everyone!

Our topic this term: "Our Interesting World"
The children decided what topic we would be focusing on this half term.  We had lots of exciting ideas and came up with one to cover lots of aspect connected with our world.  We will be learning about days out, transport, The Olympics, different countries, space, puppets and parties.

The Queen's Official 90th Birthday Celebrations

Please click here to see photos of the activities that took place to celebrate the Queen's Official 90th Birthday.  We loved dressing up in red, white and blue and designing a stamp.  Can you recognise the person on the stamp?

Phonics

In phonics we continue to split between the two classes. Some of us will be learning some new digraphs in Phase 5 whilst others will be beginning Phase 4.  Those children will practise reading and writing cvcc/cvcc words. We will also be trying to read and write 2 or 3 syllable words.  A few of us will be still going over Phase 2 and Phase 3 so we can word build.
